Support to the OCR-B module S2053-6...

How can I examine whether the printer module is installed perfectly?

1. Guarantee that the correct module in the printer is and correctly in one of the intended slot is pocketed. Besides, the slot number plays no roll. Our modules are marked all. Make sure that you have the correct product in the respective printer.
Tip: a module S2053-6D is often installed, e.g., in the LJ2200, although this printer needs the module S2053-6Dx2.

2. Send from MS-DOS (or Windows to DOS box) the test file "Testfile.esc" which you found under downloads, near the printer. If the printer in the parallel connection is connected, give for it: copy/b testfile.esc lpt1
If the printer in the network is connected, give: copy/b testfile.esc \\ servername\releasename

3. Now a sheet with barcodes and OCR-B writing should be printed. Therefore you are sure that the module is inserted correctly in the printer and the printer the module recognizes has. If the OCR-B resp. barcodes are not printed, take you the module still mals from the printer and install you this again. Should the result stay the same, it can happen in very rare cases that the module is faulty. In this case we ask you to take contact with us by telephone.

Printed OCR-B with Window: Driver-problems with LJ 4200/4300

With the newest driver version 60.05.30.04 is it not possible to add our PCM-File, you get an error, as soon as you will install the PCM-File.

Solution: You can download the driver version 60.03.14.02 from our homepage and install the PCM-file once more, or you can also take a driver for LJ 4000 from HP or Operating-System, if you don't work with a stacker.

This error will be removed in the next driver-version from HP.

To what must I pay attention while printing from Windows which driver is to be used and how can I use the writing OCR-B from Windows programs?

1. Guarantee that you do not use a printer driver of HP (from Microsoft) in the version PCL5 or PCL5e (in the info window of the printer driver you see whether this of HP or from Microsoft is). You can download the printer drivers HP under www.hp.com for the wished enterprise system. Tip: install the printer driver always locally on your PC and select as a connection LPT1. If you print connected printer from your PC about one, in the network, so configure and select afterwards a new connection (TCP/IP Port). Print about a queue of a server so you install the fonts like under point 2 also described on the server. (Windows Versions dependent)

2. With it you can select the additional writings in the Windows-fonts list, this must be extended. This happens, about that add to a PCM file (printer Cartrige Metric) download area. You find a manual for the installation under download area (manual for the installation of the printer Support for the S2053). Set now this printer in the system control to the "standard printer". From now all Windows programs should list the new writings in the written list and you can select therefore, e.g., OCR-B.
Tip: OCR-B must be always selected in 12 point sizes, so that this also is by machine readably.

Why can I not install the font resp. the PCM file "HP_Bar.pcm"?

1. Mostly you have as for example PCL 6 or PostScript have installed a wrong printer driver. If you have installed a Microsoft-printer driver, you examine whether you can select in it an additional written cassette "HP-Barcodes*More". If you do this, because this does the same like the installation of the PCM file. If no written cassettes are selectable in the printer driver, delete the printer driver and go " to What I must pay attention while printing from Windows ".

When do I use Escape sequences for the written choice and where I find this?

1. Many industrial management-solutions (ERP) steer the whole pressure incl. written choice by means of Escape sequences. You find the Esc sequences for the written choice in our manual of the module in the download area.
